It's easy to regurgitate information because someone else told you to get it or that it was awesome.  My question is what makes a mobo good or even great.

That is to say leaving the brand out, and focusing solely on what features, options, and extras should one look for in a mobo. 

This is in terms of a budget gaming mobo and a high end mobo.

So in other words buy based off of aesthetics (if I'm into that), OC Software, and expansion (PCI and RAM) is what I'm getting from the video?

 

That's a bit disheartening.  I was expecting and hoping for some scientific answer similar to that of a CPU.

Well there's chipset at the core, Z97 being the best with the most features. Then cheaper boards have wrose audio and maybe not intel lan chips etc.
