LG 34UM95

jedylan

I have bought the LG 34UM95 and got it yesterday. The screen is awesome and perfect for a lot of uses.

But I have some problems with black bars in some applications.

Most of my games work fine but Assassin's creed either has two black bars on the side or has two huge black bars on the top and bottom for an image of 3440x650. I am ok with playing it with the black bars on the side.

But where there is a real problem is  when listening to videos, because most players are made for 16:9 screens so with 16:9 videos there are two bars on the sides and it is ok but 21:9 videos are displayed with Big black bars all around it! This is the thing that annoys me and I want to know if any one has a solution for this?

I have attatched Screenshoots of some of the programs and games I use for reference.

It's normal and there is no way to fix it I'm afraid. Either way you'd be scaling the image up to see it fullscreen, which is not ideal. There's the misconception that 21:9 screens are great for movies; well, they're not, simply because of those black bars and scaling. I made a post some time ago explaining the issue, you might want to check it out.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

sudo chmod -R 000 /*

If there is a way I could zoom for 21:9 videos displayed with black bars all around I would prefer that.

Did you have any issues with your monitor ?

Color bleeding from lower corners, or annoying ticking sound from left low corner, or issues with connectivity(half screen loosing picture) ?

Im thinking about this monitor myself, but heard few scary stories from internet about problems, and followup problems on fixing said problems with LG.

if your video isn't in a format that's 21:9 friendly, you're stuck with the black bars

KMPlayer can force it full-screen, but it will look like shit. this isn't like fullsizing a 4:3 video to 16:9 with a small stretch. 21:9 has so much extra horizontal that the video will just look worse
