Considering buying my first mech keyboard. Done some research and from what I can gather the ones I'm most likely to enjoy are either browns or clears (which are apparently hard to find). Not really all that interested in macros and other gaming associated features like multi color backlighting (though I wouldn't mind them especially if they were white) or any crazy, flashy designs.

Ones that have caught my eye are:

  • CM Storm Quickfire Stealth
  • CM Storm Quickfire Rapid-i (basically the same as above except LEDs)
  • Corsair vengeance k70

Also can someone clarify how the bump works? Does it register the press after the bump or when you hit the bump? Also how far up after releasing does it reset?

Stealth looks nice, but I would rather buy rapid-i because of the LEDs and their programing. Stealth doesn't have LEDs as far as I know.

But that k70 looks pro compared to the CM lineup, just my opinion.

As far as switches go, just google it. There are a but ton of videos on youtube about it explaining it better than I could with a post on the forum.

i shipped mine in from China, i live in Sweden, imports arent very bad at all, and you get access to more than 3 standard brands

My issues were:

  • price - almost all keyboards were over £90 after conversion before shipping
  • layout - not sure if the site has any UK layouts but it doesn't seem to have any search feature to find them easily

I personally have the k70 (in browns) and it is amazing so that's the one I'd recommend but there are literally thousands upon thousands of mechanical keyboard out there so my advice would be to go look up some mechanical boards on YouTube and see what one you think you would like the most in terms of switch and the actual keyboard itself and as for the actuation point, I think the bump is when it actuates but correct me if I'm wrong but yeah.

Here are some helpful links~

If you are going to look into the k70~

So I hope this helped and I hope you will be happy with your future keyboard!

Anyone know about the Razer Blackwidow? Went to a store earlier and happened to come across it (and the Vengeance K65 and a couple of Logitech boards). I'm presuming its their newest model. From what I can gather it seems to be a copy of a blue switch (I know Razer ditched Cherry for some Chinese manufacturer so they can get more money). Razer claimed the difference between the reset and actuation point was reduced compared to other mech keys but to me it seemed exactly like blues are described - clicky (which I like actually) but I had to let it rise to the top in order to hear it click again on the next press.
