Hopefully this is the right place to post....

So I recently bought myself a sapphire hd 7970 vapor-x ghz edition 3gb (Believe that's the full name) and as usuall, I wanted to try it out. I installed it to my computer and I turned it on, then the problem started. My problem is that Windows/bios or whatever it is will not detect the 7970. I have an gpu in my mobo which appears perfectly fine, (aswell as my old card). I've put my old card in multiple times trying to see if installing the drivers then putting the 7970 in and seeing if it's detected, but nothing seems to work. I've reinstalled all programs atleast 5 times that could have something to do about graphics cards, and still... No luck. Whenever I try to install the drivers with my 7970 in, I get  a bluescreen. I've tried installing the CD that came with it multiple times, aswell as downloading some others. Anyone know how I can fix this? I really do want it work. Any help would be highly appreciated. (I have a 500w PSU btw)

Please flash your motherboard. This should fix the problem.

Doesn't 7970 Vapor-X come with 8+8 pin power connector? A 500w PSU have that?

This particular 7970 has a 6-pin as well as an 8-pin power connector. Still, in most cases I wouldn't recommend a 500 W PSU to power a system with a 7970, regardless of what kind of connectors it comes with.

Here it states that 500 watts is the minimum power output required from a PSU powering a system with a what appears to be a reference 7970.

OP, I would try and obtain a > 500 watt PSU (maybe a friend could lend you one) and test your system with said power supply powering it.

Well, I've flashed my motherboard and it still doesn't work. I red on the AMD site that it stated 500W PSU or better, So I thought I'd be safe with my current one. I just spent 1000$ upgrading my rig, and I don't have more money to spend on it for a while, which means, I can't get a new PSU like ASAP. Any other suggestions on what to try ?

About the power connectors, I don't really know what it's called... But I'll throw in some pictures of it below.

Well I'll be.. looks like your card does have two 8-pin PCI-e power connectors. I was basing what I said on the picture you'll see attached (a screenshot from this page on Newegg). My bad guys. Tinqx, any chance you could borrow a power supply from someone that has a max output of >500 watts and has two 8-pin PCI-e power connectors?
