Inb4 the hate... I know you've answered this before, but the search function on the forum is very broken and I would like some advice on what my first language should be. I know it depends on the person and there is no perfect answer, but here a little about me.

I have dabbled in HTML on Code Academy but that is my only coding experience.

I would like a well rounded knowledge of coding but I want to get into game design so that is my primary focus.

Also if you have a place you know to learn the language you suggest that you really like please tell me!

C# is the easiest of the C languages (in my experience) so I would start there.

Go to Barnes & Noble and start looking through books.

Yeah I was intending to get some books :). Also how is c# pronounced? And after learning C# am I decently prepared to go on to whatever I want?

C sharp. Not C pound or..hashtag..

Once you learn enough C# you should be good to figure out a lot of other languages because it gives you a good overall concept of how they work.

So I should get some books that will give me excerises/tutorials and then I can start making things on my own?

Actually. Is C#.net the same thing? Because Barnacules has started a codegasm series for that

I think .NET is just a bunch of coding libraries but C# is just the language used for it. I'm a little bit rusty when it comes to these things.

Here m8 http://www.homeandlearn.co.uk/csharp/csharp.html

Now it depends what are you going to use the language for, windows programs, coding games or mobile.

I personally think books are the worst waste of time nowdays, tutorials on google are so much better.

Ive been learning C# with Visual Studio and Unity with Monodevelop for couple months altought C# is pretty easy i still dont know how to write a single small program or small game without looking again on old code i wrote, maybe you will get more "lucky" with it.
