Stereo blindness

Go to solution Solved by Scia,

No, 3d vision sucks hard. I have seen many movies in 3D especially in cinemas [because, many of them don't have a 2D version avaiable], but there hasn't really been one where I could have said "awesome". Especially "The Hobbit" whyyyyyyyyyyyyy?

So no, you are not missing out on anything.

Yesterday my Dad purchased a Samsung UE40F6670 which is a 3D television.  Around a year ago now I had an eye test for some glasses for driving where it was confirmed, I do suffer from stereo blindness.  I always felt that 3D wasn't really doing anything for me but this was the nail in the coffin.  We 'acquired' a copy of Avatar in 3D and there it was.. nothing a 2D low res image for me. Sucks. How many of you suffer from stereo blindness and to you fortunate ones are we really missing out? Perhaps this is the reason 3D is maybe nothing more than a gimmick (or at least always be optional) with supposedly 10% of the population not being able to see 3D images.  I guess I should just be thankful the worst condition I suffer from is stereo blindness. =)

Well i have no problems seeing 3D, it gives me a headache and is just plane uncomfortable to watch a movie in it plus I wear glasses so the 3D glasses get in the way.  Thats why when I go to the movies I almost always see a 2D version of the movie.

When me and my group of friends went to the see The Hobbit they all wanted to see the 2D version over 3D although maybe they were just being students saving those £s.

The Oculus Rift uses 3D images doesn't it?  That's something I might get a bit annoyed about not being able to use if it takes off.

now that is understandable.

Just a question, do you have a problem when it comes to depth perception as well or is it just 3D images on a flat surface?

3D for movies is stupid, it's a complete waste of money. We bought a 3D TV and have used the 3D functionality for less that 2 hours, bearing in mind we have had this TV for nearly a year

I'm pretty sure I just can't see the 3D images I haven't found my depth perception to be a problem as I imagine you would notice something like that day to day with driving and other daily activities.

I find it strange how you are unable to see 3D images, I have never heard of this condition before today.  Learn something new everyday i guess.

My Dad quickly discovered he had to be almost perfectly centered to the television (which our sofas are not) to get a decent image and avoid flickering in the lenses so the same may become the case here although he did enjoy the 3D environments on offer in the Avatar I don't think there are films that utilise 3D to the same level.

Who knows maybe... you are stereo blind =O yeah I probably wouldn't have gone to see the Hobbit in 3D if I could just having to wear glasses through it I feel would detract from the viewing expereince and general enjoyment of the film.

I have a question, feel free to not answer if you don't want to.

what are the issues that you have to "overcome" (lack of better terms, sorry) on your daily routine?

I don't find I actually have any as I don't have depth perception issues but I imagine people that do have bad depth perception struggle with driving and things of that nature.

Seems

3D is terrible and should die a terrible death. I hate being stuck up with movies in cinema's that are not available in 2D

Seems some of you can't get away from 3D luckily my local cinema has 10-12 screens so films are always available in 2D most films also have audio descriptive screenings the UK is good for catering to every ones needs.
