Installing OS and Basic programmes out of machine?

Hi guys, 

 

 As a gift for my girlfriend going to university I promised to sort out her old laptop in terms of speed, she has a Acer Aspire 5551 with a 250GB HDD. As part one of the upgrade I am installing a 500GB Seagate SSHD (this should hopefully sort out her 2 minutes+ boottime) I was wondering, would I be able to prepare the drive with Windows 8.1 and basic programmes on my PC and simply install it into her laptop or would too many problems be encountered?

it's possible, if you don't install any drivers before putting it in the laptop. Else it should be fine :)

CPU: i7 - 2600k. GPU: GTX 1070. Mobo: intel something. RAM: Corsair XMS3 @1600Mhz (8GB). SSD: Crucial MX100 256GB. HDD: WD Green 1TB . Thanks for the swift reply, I shall give it a go, worst that could happen is the drive needs reformatting ?

I have a drive with Linux on it, and i switched it beween multiple different PC's, Did it before with Windows, but got driver problems, But if you do as i said it should be fine :)

I personally wouldn't bother, just install it whilst in the laptop, Windows automatically starts installing drivers etc, your best of building it in the machine it's destined for.
