I'm looking to get a surge protector to keep lightning induced power outages from damaging my home entertainment system. I'm currently thinking of getting this one. Any thoughts on it? Anything I should watch out for when getting a surge protector?

I didn't know there was "better quality" surge protectors. Just some dull and plain white ones that just gave more plugs...

Never trust my advice. Only take any and all advice from me with a grain of salt. Just a heads up.

Any one will do, as long as its not really cheap

looks good. rated for loads of upto 1870W and will protect against surges of up to 3780 joules.
It should do nicely :)

You're talking about power strips. There is a difference, while those do have a fuse that flips they wont protect much if lightning ran in on something.I have a real surge protector with $500,000 insurance if it fails that is rated for 2000w surge.

Unfortunately the nearest Walmart is about an hour away, so Amazon with its free shipping is usually preferred. Thanks for the advice though.

I have this one. I couldn't find it on amazon, but what you want is something that protects against high joules. The more joules, the more it can protect. One like this is similar to mine and should be able to protect everything you have.
