I want a headset with alright sound not best quality ever but not crap either. This headset must be compatible with both my PS3 and my PC. I like to play PC games most of the time but not all my friends have gaming PCs so I use my PS3 to play games with them and i don't have a headset. I feel like if I buy one it better work with both systems.

I would recommend the SteelSeries Siberia V2's

They have a cross-platform version that works accross PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

I purchased mine for about 55€ on sale and have been loving them on my desktop with a nice sound card.

Features:

- 1m cord with 2m extension

- 50mm drivers

- retractable microphone, although I would only take it out once and tape it so that it doesn't move, since I broke my original one's after couple of years of constantly moving the mic.

- comfortable

There are cheap adapters that will allow you to plug-in a 3.5mm headphones and mic to the Xbox 360 controller, so you could save a bit of money by getting the normal version of the headphones instead of the cross-platform edition.

What do you consider a nice sound card? The reason being is, I will get some in the new future and would like to know.

"Nice sound card" completely depends on how big your budget is, but generally speaking most of the sound cards are better than the on-board audio on a motherboard. I would suggest that you at least invest +80-150$ into the sound card.

I currently have a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium, which works well enough for me.
