I was trying to help my friend with a problem he had with his Borderlands 2 game data (it couldn't find required files). We looked, and found out his game directory in the D: drive had two subfolders instead of the one. In file path terms, it looked like

D:/Games/SteamApps/SteamApps. But when we double clicked the first SteamApps folder, it opened the same directory again, but without changing the file path, if that makes sense. Upon clicking it a second time we could access the place where the game were installed, if that makes sense. I gathered that this was the problem and I told my friend to CUT the second subfolder and paste it in the place where the first one was found, replacing the files in the process.

When we pasted the folder, nothing happened and there was nothing in the directory. It kicked us out of /SteamApps and back to /Games. I told my friend to undo the process, and when he did, a message cam up. I can't remember exactly what it said, but it was something about a subfolder of a folder, and a "Skip" option in the dialogue. We pressed skip and nothing happened. I told my friend to try pasting to the desktop but the option is greyed out. We got a clipboard app to look at his clipboard but it's blank... Has it gone forever? His save files are in tact in his documents but he's rather not download the files again - he has terrible internet.

Any help with this odd problem would be appreciated!
