HDD warnings.

Go to solution Solved by 1991luk,

I bought it and it just came today.I was a bit scared as I tought I would get a bag of potatoes for those 30 bucks I gave.It is not in a working condition and not even showing in Windows.I can see it in BIOS as having 0GB.

I will send it to Western Digital next week for RMA.

Thanks anyway,everybody!

It belongs in the Storage Solution section. What's the exact hard drive in the image?

Western Digital Caviar Green 2TB - The SKU is in the image...

The exact drive isn't the concern. He's concerned about the drive wear vs the purchase price of $20.

Good point. I'm not particularly sure. WD Drives tend to last a long time. The differences between the better ones is performance and power consumption(increased). Not quality.

It should work fine.

Yes,that's the thing.I want to know if it will work properly...

And if it's worth buying it

I can't speak for WD Caviar Green, but I've had to RMA 5 of my own 2TB WD Caviar Black drives purchased within the past 3 years.

HDD Sentinel and HD Tune are often bad metrics for HDD wear and can be sometimes a little overzealous.

Your best bet is to simply test the drive with WD Data LifeGuard Diagnostics (DLGDIAG) and run the "Extended Test".

It also would be wise to look up the SN on WD's support and determine when the warranty expires. That way if it does fail, you can easily acquire a free RMA replacement.

I checked the S/N on the western digital's site. It's under warranty...My question is,though:if it cracks, will it be Okay if I send it without some kind of proof of purchase(He doesn't know about the warranty and sells it without invoice or something, probably he bought it from another person)?
