Possible GPU failure from Overclocking it?

It's a generic nvidia one with just that single fan on it :)  But yeah, hopefully I didn't blow it.

Hi everybody,

 

So, I just flashed my GPU bios using Nvflash (I am just reciting verbatim here really, I am not too familar with all of this) which effectively increased my stock voltage on my NVidia GTX 660 (non Ti) from 1.175mv to 1.212mv.  So now when running games I get, "display driver nvidia windows kernel mode driver stopped responding successfully..."   The game will freeze up and then eventually close out with this message from the bottom right action center (of Windows 8.1).  I am not sure if I have messed up my GPU or if it really has become some sort of driver issue?  I reset the bios so now it is back at 1.175 mv, but still getting the same issue.  Other forums seem to be puzzled by this as it is a reocurring thing for some people and it doesn't really seem like there has been much of a solution found.  I really appreciate the help!

Ahhhhh, well, Nvflash has you save a copy of Bios with GPU-Z, and then unlocks your bios through cmd, and uses the copy you saved to read the voltages I think.  At that point, you install his mod through cmd again, and it is able to change the voltages.  This was a specific thing for GTX 660 non ti that I followed on overclock.net:   http://www.overclock.net/t/1330897/official-gtx-660-non-ti-owners-club

You backed up the stock BIOS right? Of course you did.

 

Reflash it, if games still crash rma with the old "it worked and now it doesn't" trick.

I had driver crashing issues on my aftermarket bios. Flashed it back and it worked just fine.

I didn't back it up, no :(  And this card is almost a couple of years old now :(

By aftermarket bios do you mean on a new motherboard or on a custom configuration of you GPU voltage that wasn't stock?

Skyn3ts 780Ti bios. Unlocked voltage and 150% power limit.

Thanks, I set it back to default it appears with my mate's bios provided up there, but I am still interested in finding the right overclock.  I will take a look.
