x99 maximum ram?

I have been looking at the x99 motherboards and the Haswell-e(s) and on Intel's website the maximum amount of ram is 64GB but i found two motherboards that says they support 128GB, so could the Haswell-e(s) have 128Gb of ram?

Since current ram are only 8gb, current max is 64gb until we start seeing 16gb and up ram

One day.. Some day.. 512GB RAM per stick.. Using your RAM as storage. That'd be cool.

it could possibly support 128gb when ddr4 gets better?

I was hoping for the other way around, that SSDs would be soooooo fast that we wouldnt need ram, just really, really high endurance and ultra fast ssds.

since DDR4 is supposed to be twice the density of ddr3, as we see 16gb modules arrive and become affordable you will probably be able to do 128 gb with a bios update.

I think HUGE RAM sticks will happen earlier than supper fast SSD's, but who knows haha, that'd be amazing too,

You can do that today, it's called a RAM drive:

I know, but you can't really put much on it, unless you have 64GB, which is also not that much. If we get bigger capacity sticks, we could use them for mass storage. Super fast too.

yeah but then applications, games, and media files will be huge ssds will be like 4tb and hdd will be 16tb 512gb ram will be nothing, 10 years ago people were probably like some day 64gb ram when they had there 80gb drives its all relative storage capacities ram size file size all grow with one another
