Hello!

When playing any video file (at least of those I randomly tried) I have problem with sound frequently disappearing for about 1 sec when I set Audio Format above 44.1khz on Windows audio settings

Had the problem in Media Player Classic and VLC

I have a Xonar Phoebus

This started happen recently, I think maybe it started to happen at the same time as I installed my R9 290X Lightning

Could the sound processor thingie in the grahpicscard cause the problem?

Have noticed any other places, not games, not streaming videos, not music

Any ideas?

Try to reinstall the drivers...

(Don't take my word for some things... I haven't used a dedicated sound card since I had my Pentium 4 machine)

You using the drivers from Asus? If so, uninstall them & try the UNi Xonar Drivers, they're unofficial drivers, but Asus have shite support for their sound cards. I recommend trying the "UNi Xonar 1814/1815 v1.64 r2" stable drivers near the bottom. When installing, choose the C-media panel, with GX disabled.

Shot through the heart and you're to blame, 30fps and i'll pirate your game - Bon Jovi

Take me down to the console city where the games are blurry and the frames are thirty - Guns N' Roses

Arguing with religious people is like explaining to your mother that online games can't be paused...

They say they don't support the Phoebus because it has a different audio chipset : (
