if you are thinking of upgrading the system later on

you might have to jump to Intel instead

FX8 core is pretty much the max you can go for the AM3+ platform

with the Intel Pentium G3258 and a Z97 board combo

you can upgrade to the Broadwell CPU coming next year

for the same or lower price by the end of this month you can opt for the 280X or 290 GPU which will be much faster than the GTX770 which will be outdated when games uses more than 3GB of VRAM with high res and textures

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

what if i got a 780?

if you are going for the 780

you need to get the 6GB version

but that may burst your budget

so should i just go with a 290, new psu, and what should i do about a cpu 8320 or something diffrent?

You could go intel, but it would be more expensive. With a z97 motherboard you could change to broadwell.

would it still be ok to stick with the 8 core from a gaming stand point?

Yes. The 8 core will work fine. I have one too. It is a few fps slower in games than intel but it is great for the price.

sweet! so i guess my final build boils down to a r9 290 4gb a corsair 750 psu and a 8320 pretty solid right?

Pretty much best for the price.
