Hi guys, I would really appreciate it if you could help me build my first pc. I'm planning to get it next month (09/2014) and my current budget is $1000 to $1200 excluding the peripherals. I prefer the hardware to be either blue or red and use the CM storm stryker for the case but NOT A MUST. Intel or AMD does not matter to me as long as I will get my money's worth and it would last for quite sometime. Btw I live in USA.

Thanks in advance for your help

Since want to use it for gaming an i5 will be fine. And Corsair H100i will let you overclock the CPU. That CM Styker takes a huge part of your budget. You can get a R9 290X if you choose something like a Corsair 300R for the case.

For now, I don't have any plans on doing sli/crossfire. If you're asking for resolution then maybe I want it to reach max settings

How much of a difference there is between the R9 290 and R9 290X in terms of price per performance ratio?

Would've agreed to this build if the OP would consider dropping his CM Stryker and his color preference. This is a whole lot better when it comes to price/performance.

The color scheme and case choice are just my personal preferences and I'm actually willing to give those up as long as I get my money's worth.

Swapped GPU to R9 290, Case changed.

This is liquid cooled, you can stick another 8GB ram as an upgrade. Should be able to max out most of your games (damn you Crysis 3) Go for a smaller capacity if you want to stick to your budget.
