So, I am changing my old mobo and processor, and I heard people saying that before actually installing the new components on the chassis, you should test them to see if it works.

2 Questions about that: If not on the actuall chassis, where will I power it put?

And, I bought a all in one water cooler for the processor, and I dont want to install it before going on the chassis, because it comes with a thermal paste that I dont want to lose. Is it bad if I turn on the computer without a cooling solution for the processor outside the pc, when testing it?

Power it up on the motherboard box as thats a safe place to keep it as the box is non conductive.

Use the stock cooler to test it if you want to. You use power from the PSU, that you use outside of the system as well.

Anyway, it's not mandatory to test the system outside of the case at all, it's just a recommendation that allows you to troubleshoot a lot easier, if something ends up not working properly.

One more question about this, what can I use to remove the stock cooler thermal paste? Please dont tell me 99 alcohol or 70 alcohol, because these are prohibited in my country, probably the higher I can find is 35%, something like that

Sorry, misspelled alcohol
