I'd say Gigabyte is cheap and good, cheaper than ASUS and MSI.

You can bark like a dog, but that won't make you a dog.

You can act like someone you're not, but that won't change who you are.

Finished Crysis without a discrete GPU,15 FPS average, and a lot of heart

How I plan my builds -

Spoiler

For me I start with the "There's no way I'm not gonna spend $1,000 on a system."

Followed by the "Wow I need to buy the OS for a $100!?"

Then "Let's start with the 'best budget GPU' and 'best budget CPU' that actually fits what I think is my budget."

Realizing my budget is a lot less, I work my way to "I think these new games will run on a cheap ass CPU."

Then end with "The new parts launching next year is probably gonna be better and faster for the same price so I'll just buy next year."

What is whit the PCS+, they should be really good.

Some of my friends in the pc repair business(by that i mean rivals) told me that the card seems to have an issue with the fans not all turning on after standby or hibernation, take in mind they are all in the uk, pretty spread out but id say im close with about 50 maybe 60 guys  and one female which is smoking hot, hottest repair guy easily. Most of them have encountered this cooler before and once that issue is resolved ill start recommending powercolour again, their other cards seem fine. Im also on edge about Asus, they have had many issues in the past few years, many batches of gpus with mounting problems or thermal paste problems. I find it hard to recommend them, then their customer services are poor so it takes long to get another card, i just play it safe and buy from gigabyte, never had anything of theirs fail on me apart from when i fell on one of their motherboards and crushed the 1156 socket.

The R9 290 Windforce looks good and is cheaper then the PCS+ but dk much about it. The Sapphire Cards are awesome and i like the R9 290X VaporX 8gb edition.(that special edition Card)

But i never readed any Fan issues of the PCS+. Gonna take a look into that.

It varies depending on the specific model, with the one exception that is Sapphire. Sapphire make great cards at all levels.

For 290(x): Sapphire > PowerColour > MSI > Gigabyte > XFX > Asus > Reference

For 280(x) and below: Sapphire > MSI > Gigabyte > the rest

EDIT: there are others out there such as HIS but I've never even seen them sold here in the UK so I don't know about them.

The PCS+ is very good, it's a three-slot card though. It cools roughly equally to (if not slightly better than) the Tri-x. There have been some issues of black screens, but these have been largely confined and you should send the card straight back to the vendor if such glitches happen. This forum even has its own PCS+ fanboy, who hasn't been poking around suggesting it as much lately.

Wow, i was looking for any issues or fan problems of the PCS+ but can't find them on google or Youtube.

But if it's like this i am not that much interested in seding the card back and wait a long time.

If i don't choose the PCS+ the it's gonna be the Windforce or the Vapor X.

Well if there's fan issues then that'll what will happen too. I did say these issues have been largely confined to small bad batches. It could happen with any card by any manufacturer and you'll have to go through the returns process in that event. I'd not let it put you off, it's such a small number.

same as motherboards, asus, msi, gigabyte, lots of experiance with overclockable things on PCB's with high end components and software.

XFX have been around for decades and they're pretty badass, have been using black pcb's forever. go google stuff like the xfx 9600gt XXX alpha dog edition i had,
that thing came factory with a 13.8% overclock from 650>740mhz, considering today an extra 40mhz is considered an overclock and 75mhz is considered a "superclock"..

sapphire are the stock oem for amd cards, most "reference" cards are made by sapphire but their topaz pcb's suck d***.

powercolor, 3dfx, etc are all the same company pretty much, largely reference pcb's and components but with an aftermarket dual/tripple fan cooler. 99% of the performance for 90% of the price, (but not the flashy name).

fwiw im not sold on the vapor x cooler, im not denying the benefits of vapor chambers, i just doubt they're HUGELY better than simpler and cheaper heatpipes when it comes to graphics cards, and heres the kicker.....has anyone ever cut apart thier 290x vapor x to see if it has a vapor chamber in it? or are we just taking sapphires word on it?....

stay away from Asus DirectCUII 290/290x cards. the cooler buckles under any voltage increase whatsoever. was not designed/intended for the vertical orientation of the hawaii gpu.

HIS' ICEQ X2 GPUs are quite good too, coolest GPU i have/seen. the only downside is the damn card is 30 cm long (the heatsink is massive)

The lenght of a GPU doesn't matter, i look for a GPU that has a very nice cooler that cools good and the GPU should perform well.

The Price matters too.
