graphical problem, caused by 2 different GPUs?

hi, so i have a PC on am3+ so no iGP, which had an HD 6850

and i was going to use this PC only for it's CPU so i removed fans from the AC accelero S1 on the 6850

but after some time i tryed playing a game a little on this PC, it went fine

but the next day i had a black screen, and then 6850 was not hot at all at this moment because of some houres at idle

the only thing i was able to see was using team viewer on this PC and sending a ctrl+alt+del

and when i move the cursor i get this

gfx_by_nagby-d7wq19t.png

so i thought the 6850 had overheated, but wouldn't the problem should have appeared during gaming, or not at all because after a certain temperature the PC shut down?

i replaced the 6850 by an old GT220 i had lying around, wasn't sure if it still worked

the PC booted but still same exact problem, always black screen, only that via teamviewer (doesn't appear on the screen, i get a "no cable connected" message on any screens)

so, is it a problem from both GPUs so i need to get another one, or a motherboard problem maybe? (the PCIE plug could have been damaged since the 6850 heatsink was pretty heavy and the GT220 is low profile without bracket for full profile)

or something else?

Are you able to reinstall Windows mate?

If you're switching GPUs willy-nilly you're probably gonna have some fucked drivers.

sound more like a mobo issue than a GPU issue to me

you got another PC to test the GPUs?

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

nope, only have this one as desktop PC

do you think trying another PCIE plug could help or is it another kind of mobo problem?

if you mobo has another PCI-E slot for graphics

try that and boot to BIOS and Windows
