So when I plug my mechanical keyboard into one of my desktops it gets to the point where I can press F2 or Del, and no BIOS splash. But my keyboard will not light up or register.

So i thought that's weird, unplugged the keyboard, tried to boot without it, then I got to a American Megatrends screen where I could press F2 for set-up.

I continued plugged in a regular old keyboard and BOOM, boots right into windows no problem. Anyone know why this is?

My mechanical keyboard works fine in my current desktop, just not my second one.

Hopefully you guys can help, thanks in advance!

What keyboard?

Try plugging it into the PS/2 port with an adapter

Sometimes motherboards can't initialize USB in time for proper function in the BIOS. Hence some (most) motherboards allow you to toggle USB intitalization. As well, if you want to guarantee a keyboard to work in the BIOS, use PS/2
