Started this build back in October with the main components, just finished installing the last piece which finally arrived today: The sound card. The concept was to make a high performance, but very simple, very reliable machine. I found that having a lady in my life I no longer had time to be fiddling around with things all the time so I just wanted to be able to sit down and game and enjoy it. Video and audio reproduction, speed and quality.

Not overclocking though, like I said, I just wanted it to work well, no pushing the limits, just solid, simple performance.

I used to do SLi and crossfire and overclock everything, but then you spend so much time testing to make sure everything works properly and if something fails you have to go back over it all and I just do not have the time.

I do a little photography so some shots end up in portrait, also anything text-based goes over there, browsing, word processing, etc.

The ProArt seems like a bit of a waste for that but at $200 for the fully adjustable stand and the IPS panel to match the other, there was no reason to go with an inferior screen.

  • 3 months later...

Couldn't get the pics working properly on the old forums, new forums are a major improvement. Shameless bump to show off my fortress cable management. (anyone who has one will probably agree that there is NOT much room)

Added a couple of shots from early in the build, HE-01 doesn't cover any ram slots, is excellent. (instruction manual doesn't note that what look like insulation pads are actually meant to be used for vibration dampening, and it can be loud as hell without them)
