So apparently my motherboard is a Clevo B7130, I'm guessing Q-force just bought the cheapest hardware it could find and made a case around it and called it a day.

I can still go on the website and find drivers but nothing else.

So my question now is, if I find an other laptop with the same motherboard and I download that bios update, will that work or will it brick my laptop?

With school starting next month for me that's about the last thing I want (but rather now then when I'm at school).

Clevo doesn't publish BIOS updates on their support site unfortunately Apparently you have to contact them via email and they send you the BIOS file.

BTW, go to: http://www.wimsbios.com/phoenixflasher.jsp and download the latest "Winphlash.exe - Phoenix Flasher (Windows 32/64bit based)" get the 64 bit version '1.0.76'.

Use it to backup your BIOS. If possible, send me the BIOS backup in a ZIP file and i can have someone take a look at it.

When I try to backup the BIOS I get an error that says 'The input file 'flashabl.ROM' can not be found. A valid filename must be specified to continue.'

What should I do and what file should I use? Also why would it ask for a file if it only needs to backup the BIOS and not flash it? ('Backup BIOS only' button is selected)

Also, searching for a BIOS file I found the following: http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/657524-clevo-b7130.html

Note the "they answered that they won't de bringing out a bios update for the B7130 ." part which isn't very comforting.

As for whether or not the B7130 has a BIOS update, no one knows. Clevo does not make their BIOSes publically available. The only way to obtain them is through support email. I suggest sending a support email explaining that your laptop is the B7130, and that you will need the latest available BIOS to solve a possible system instability. The worst they could respond is 'no'.

If Clevo won't send you the BIOS, youll have to go to the BIOS-mods forum found here: https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-PLEASE-READ-BEFORE-POSTING-YOUR-REQUEST

They have a utility to backup BIOS images, you'll have to ask them to see if there is an alternate BIOS or microcode update.

That is about as far as I can help you with, I am not a BIOS / Microcode guru, so unfortunately you will have to post a new thread there asking for help. When you do that please link them to this thread so they understand the circumstances.
