Hey,  me and my friend tried to play together. First we started Supreme Ruler 1936 we both tried to set up game servers on our ends. Then we eventually went to ARMA 3 to try and see if we could connect to eachothers servers with no avail. We turned off Anti Virus, and Firewall options. Also we are in separate countries. Any suggestions? We were also wondering if it would be possible to set it up so it seemed like we were both on the same LAN(would technically be wan)? Some people casually mention it in videos, saying that they might do it in the future (Tek Syndicate a long time ago, so don't know if they did)

Just an update:
We both uninstalled Anti Virus Software(ESET Smart Security) and tried again.

We reset the TCP IP stack, still to no avail

I released and renewed my IP. I also flushed my DNS cache as I do that all fairly frequently^^^

Then we had checked to see if our IP's are blacklisted (Me 3, him 1). This is not a cause for concern, as I turned off my option to block IPs from malicious servers.

My friend also attempted to portforward, still to no avail.

I am using OpenDNS, and he is using his ISP's DNS servers

Any other suggestions?

You'd need to use something like Hamachi for that. Simply being in 2 separate locations, and then trying to connect via IP won't typically work, since you're connecting to their WAN IP, and from their multiple devices could be connected, and it has no clue which device o forward the requests too.

As well, you cannot use the 192.168.x.x IP to connect to ANYONE unless they are on the SAME network as you, it's not a publicly routable IP Address.

We are using public IPs. Through ARMA 3 we tried connecting through the normal way to no avail.

No, so you're still on a private IP of a subnet being addressed to your home. Having your own IP would require the device being your router/modem, or purchasing one/a domain for something like a server. That is what NAT is for. One say, campus, or, business, or home, get one public WAN IP, then NAT kicks in, assign a private subnet IP to all devices connected to the modem, and from their those priveate IP's when connecting online get mapped via NAT, or PAT (typically NAT) to your house's IP.

Thanks, however the issue seems to persist. I haven't played either game online for awhile so it is even more difficult to narrow down the issues, I am thinking of trying Hamachi, however the only issue is that I am in London, Ont and my friend is in California so a fair bit of distance between us both, so we are not sure what performance would be like. Though better than not being able to access it at all I guess lol
