unstable CPU?

Go to solution Solved by GloriousPain,

yea i knew about the luck factor but 4.4 is only 200MHz over turbo so surely it could do it right and 1.5v sounds quite hot for a H100i

It is xD and yeah some CPUs actually have hard time @ stock  so 200MHz over Turbo is actually a decent amount when you think of it like that

sp i have had my 8350 for about a year and a half now and for about a year it has run on all auto just fine but i was getting FPS dips so i followed jayz2cens video on overclocking the 8350 and mine can barely do 4.4 at 1.4 volts is this because when it was running at auto the voltage was surpassing 1.42 volts  on stock also what voltage do you recommend is as high as i should go?

Well keep in mind that some chips just don't overclock that well, you might just be unlucky.

>.> okay you made a mistake already OCing is all based on luck your not guaranteed to repeat what Jay got and at stock I'm pretty sure it's 1.3V and well general rule of thumb is 1.5V fries most everything without very highend cooling

i guess... the only reason i overclocked any way is because i was getting fps dips in crossfire and that fixed it so meh thanks

Could the chip be throttling from the heat?

Specs are on my profile page

Teach a man to fish and he ends up sticking a screw driver in a turned on power supply seeing if it still works.        #KilledMyWifeWithABomb            Resolution is just a number

yea why

I didn't know the H100i was that good, or maybe it's just that AMD naturally runs with a higher voltage.
