Hello, Im going to be doing my first build very soon and i was wondering if the asus z97-a is a little too much or is the perfect thing for a beginner . Im getting a intel i7 4790k cpu. Im going to be doing editing, rendering and lots of gaming. If the mobo is too much for a beginner, can anyone find me a better mobo that will be more friendly to me as a newbie.

It's not about your experience it's about what you need from the motherboard. There isn't any benefit to buying a motherboard with all the bells and whistles if you won't use any of it. Most of Asus' boards are jam-packed with features. Look at the bullet points of the motherboard you are interested in and determine whether or not you need what it offers. If you don't look for a cheaper board that has all the features you need. A $250 Maximus VII Hero is not any better than a $130 MSI Gaming 3.
