Best Virtual Machine Server software

So what should I get - Go down the VMWARE route? or just use Microsoft's lovely Hyper V 

or other??

Im on windows 8.1 so vmware player, or vmware workstation , i got the workstation from my school i love it.

In my opinion, VMware is the best option not considering price. However VirtualBox is an excellent value.

Yeah I know about all the workstation stuff seing as I do a ton of it - but ive just got hold of a server capable of hyper virtualisation so I might end up getting ESX or something

Dont care about price really - (I love having a god father that is head of IT at a big company... brings back lots of goodies )

you could always do the trial for Vmware Workstation see if works for you. I <3 personally lots of customizing, plus supports every  os

I still use Virtual Server 2005 on my server hence why I concluded I needed an upgrade.. I could just about have windows 7 machines running...
