downgrade from dirext 11 to 9 in far cry 3, it's on google how to do that, your problem should be fixed

I recently got a second 660 ti to run in sli, but ever since, every time I play far cry 3 after about 5 minutes it freezes up and i have to do a hard shutdown on my system. far cry is the only game that does this. any suggestions?

Edit: btw the game runs perfectly smoothly but then will just randomly stop and freeze up. i hear a loud noise in my headset when it freezes as well

I've heard of this problem before, try to update your drivers, it could be sli try playing on one card.

The drivers aren't the problem, i'm using the latest from nvidia. but i just tried playing without sli enabled and it didn't crash. the problem is that performance is horrible without SLI. do you know how i can solve this issue?
