So my iPod has very little space left. I wanted to add more music and I had to delete some other music in order to make room. Even though there should of been room, when I tried to sync it, it gave me an error that it couldn't sync (song names) because there was not enough room. So I deleted more songs and then all of a sudden when I synced it again, I had more than enough room. I thought ok...So I then tried adding more. I added one song and told it to sync and instead it showed it was copying 13 others including the one I added. I added 1 other and it again was trying to copy 23 others. Every time (3 times), I tried to add 1 song and it synced it, I had even more space left on my iPod....What???? I don't get it. I closed iTunes and re-opened it. Now it showed my iPod was over capacity by 2.16gb. But then after a few seconds that went away. It happens whenever I start up iTunes. To add to the confusion, my iPod shows it has 25.1gb of music used. I only sync to iTunes. However my iTunes music folder has used 23.7gb. What's up?

Restore your iPod.

Also, i guess it's an iPod Classic, which year ? these symptoms could mean a defective hard drive

It's an iPod Touch, 5th gen 32gb

That removes the hard drive failure, restore it then resync everything, also update iTunes if not already

I did and it's still messed up. My iPod says there is 2gb free. Same as iTunes. Everything is synced. If I add 1 song that is 140mb, iTunes will say over capacity by 48mb.
