I start high school in a week and my IED course (Introduction to Engineering Design) is using AutoDesk's inventor program. I checked AutoDesk's site and as far a I can tell my PC meets the very minimum requirements for models under 500 parts. I was just wondering if anyone has experience with the program, and could tell me whether I'll be able to run it on my PC as I know mimimum requirements are often inflated.

I have pretty extensive use with Inventor, if you don't mind what are you computer's specs?  Generally you can reduce graphical fidelity to marginally increase the program's performance, but you'll certainly need a dedicated GPU to have any kind of decent work flow.

You'll be absolutely fine with that.

I've got Inventor 2014 installed on my Lenovo Y410p (GT750m Graphics) and it runs fine.  Inventor is a great program, after going through the tutorials from Autodesk's website, you should try following along in some tutorials on Youtube to get a head start.

Edit:  You should be okay with 8GB, however I haven't used the 2015 version of Inventor.  That being said, you can only know for sure once you get the program installed and see for yourself.  From here though I think you should be fine.
