In the future I want a machine for work and play.

I am a game design major at DeVry. We do mostly programming, with light 3d modeling, and work with game engines. My current machine is a Athlon II x4 645, with 4gbs memory, and a 550ti. This has worked fine until i started using UDK and 3ds max more. i definitely need more memory. Also the computer was built at a compusa and they used a gigabyte matx board and the VRM idles at around 70c. So rather than upgrade I am making a computer this coming summer. The budget is 1500-1700$. This is not the 'future' machine i speak of. I plan to get a 8970, or a gtx780 if they are out by then. These gpu's along with the 3770k and 16gbs of ram will give me a lot more performance and better experience with my tasks. The gpu is for gaming, but it also performs well in some of the applications i use.

Here is my question, I wanna combine work and play in one machine- a pro gpu and one for gaming. I have looked at many other threads of running two different gpu's and have gotten mixed results. So firstly if you are a person who has both, (examples: Quadro + geforce, Firepro + geforce, Quadro + radeon, firepro + radeon) running great in your machine please post your experiences with it, and how you managed to have both installed and running at the same time.

Second if you are a person who doesnt have both, but you are knowledgeable on this topic feel free to contribute to the discussion.

I'm mostly looking for people who are using both, I don't want peoples opinion on which is better, Or posts like 'dont get X get Y'.

Have my self worked with Unity, UDK and 3ds max. For my personal experience you don't a Quadro unless you are really working some serious 3d models or similar.

But if you have the budget go, for a Quadro and smack it in. I have never heard of people running SLI Quadro with a g-force graficscard but if it is possible please let me know.

And also, if you got the money for a Quadro, you should have the budget for a dedicated gaming PC.
