USB cable or Ethernet cable

I have a USB network cable that plugs into my PC and then the other end plugs into the different-looking USB port in the router. Should I use this or is there a difference when using an Ethernet cable?

When I used to do tech support back in the day, I would bitch-slap anyone that recommended USB over ethernet. Ethernet is a simpler, more robust method that just works. USB would need drivers, making things more complicated and flaky.

Yes, but it does not add the complexity of having a translating layer of making a USB behave like an ethernet connection. Why do that when you already have an ethernet port?

Then how come i have to install ethernet drivers every time i finish a new build? It won't connect to the internet otherwise.
