Best to start from the top, what is the BSOD error code you get ? You can get this by repeatedly pressing F8 till you get a black screen with boot options. Then select disable automatic restart. This will then load windows normally and crash at BSOD and give the error code.

Have you tried start up repair ? If you can get the amazing boot options black screen, then try safe mode with networking. If that boots then open CMD and run sfrc /scannow and chkdsk /r

I can't get to that black screen

If you have a CD, boot from that and use it too repair your system. If not try as many function keys as you can from F5 to F12 as I dont know your manufacturer of your computer/laptop.

Windows 8 if installed correctly should have a repair function to restore itself. You can always change the bios from UEFI to legacy to get the option of the advanced boot options (black screen) too repair your system
