partition booting order

Go to solution Solved by that_tech_guy,

ok the problem is that I deleted the partition that makes windows boot but it didn't crash because it was done booting, so I have to buy windows 8 again :(

I can't use my product key because my stupid laptop doesn't have it anywhere and I didn't Wright it down so I have no product key

Time to buy another copy then... Might be a good time to get an upgrade too...

It might be worth making a Windows installer disk and trying to repair the OS. I don't know if it would detect the Windows installation, but it would probably be worth a shot before buying a new licence.

You can also extract your licence with a piece of software like License Crawler or KeyFinder:

Not that I know of. You can pull the info off, if you have another drive with a bootable Windows partition on it, by using Magical Jelly Bean, and telling it to load the hives from the dead installation, provided the drive can be read at all, and the files are unharmed.

I transferred all the files to another computer so they are safe :)

That includes the Windows files, since the registry keys are in files found under C:/Windows/System32/Config
