Hello fellas,

...a good intro would probably showing my specs.. so here it goes.

Fx-8350
M5a990fx Pro R2.0
G skill ripjaws 2x4gb 1866Mhz
WD 1tb blue 7200rpm
HGST Desktar 1tb 7200rpm

Noctua NH D-14
Sapphire R9 -290 tri-x
1 NZXT LED Green 140mm
1 NZXT 140mm

2 Deepcool Windblade 120mm
1 NZXT 120mm
NZXT Hale82 700w 80+ Bronze

Recently , i've been experiencing low toned buzzing noise coming from my 6 months old psu after i installed my new r9 290 tri x from sapphire.
The buzzing noise will only occur if i am playing games like Sniper Elite 3, BF3  , rendering and other stuff that takes quite a lot of resources.

But , whenever  i'm doing regular stuff , like browsing the net..
It seems to be doing fine. No noise , and everything is in good shape.

Since my PSU is still under warranty, i'm planning to RMA it.

My questions are.

Does anyone here have a similar setup like mine and experiencing what i'm experiencing right now?
Does RMAing it a good move ? or should i get a new PSU ?
Could there be fix to this problem ?

pretty sure coil whine is something PSU manufacturers will cheerfully/Begrudgingly RMA. Better to RMA than trying some of the fixes idiots online might recommend and electrocuting yourself.

I too have recently run into coil whine on my PSU. Some cheap OCZ Fatality 750watt PSU.

The coil whine is disgustingly bad, and constant! It sounds like an old HDD constantly writing files, except I have absolutely NO mechanical HDD's!

I'll try disabling the C1E state as lee32uk has suggested...

So I never got round to restarting my PC in bios to try disabling C1E state. But I did narrow down to WHEN it coil whines. I thought it was constant, but then after pausing a download in Steam it stopped...

Tried running HD tune to see if it was anything to do with any of my SSD's, but no, turns out it's only when I download at around 1mb/s or more.

Has anyone else ever had this problem? Coil whine ONLY when downloading? And it doesn't matter if I'm using LAN or WiFi :/
