I am currently looking to add a few displays to my Eleitebook 8560w laptop, but I am confused by the displayport connector. I own a Dell E1910H monitor (VGA only) and it connects fine to my VGA port with a cable, but I am also looking to use a DVI/VGA monitor (Acer G226HQL), but do I need an active or passive Displayport to DVI adapter to make this work? I am looking at this but will it work? Also, will setting it up as 3 independent displays work, without getting into spanning (like eyefinnity)? Note this is on a Quadro 2000m, so that may affect the answer, yes?

Thanks for any help.

I believe that should work, yes.

And by default, monitors work as independent displays (with a shared mouse cursor) and Nvidia Surround / Eyefinity is an additional technology to render a game across multiple displays.

Well, I know how it works with 2 independent displays. What I am worried about is Nvidia forcing surround, which would make a single spanned display instead of 3 independent displays (mainly worried as one is a different resolution, and because of my desk setup, the 2 monitors are above the laptops screen, so I want the windows setup to reflect that (like the 768p display is right now).

But do you know if I need a Active or a Passive displayport adapter?  (or if I were to get a displayport monitor ,would that no longer matter?)
