Would you be better off having a 60hz monitor and your game is above 60fps (only 60fps visable)

or

a 144hz monitor and your game is below 144fps but above 60fps???

reason im asking is because the game i play i usually get around 90-120fps

I know that everybody can't really tell the difference between 60fps and 120fps as Linus proved in one of his videos, but im just curious what is the correct monitor if you get around 100 fps.

Honestly, in your situation I might just suggest getting a 120hz monitor. If you want a 144hz monitor but your games/gpu can't do that it's a waste of money and not really worth it.

I'm a student currently attending the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, if you attend or around there please don't hesitate to contact me!

Supposedly the higher FPS, the better your reaction time will be.

If you go with the 60hz monitor option, you can use a frame limiter or V-Sync to lock the game at 60 FPS so your PC isn't working so hard to render all of those extra frames.

If you really want a better experience though, go with the 144hz monitor.

I think i'll just go with the 144hz monitor and see what happens.

You know, if you don't like it you can always set the refresh rate via the monitor's or Windows settings. So getting the 144MHz monitor is always your best pick.

You can bark like a dog, but that won't make you a dog.

You can act like someone you're not, but that won't change who you are.

Finished Crysis without a discrete GPU,15 FPS average, and a lot of heart

How I plan my builds -

Spoiler

For me I start with the "There's no way I'm not gonna spend $1,000 on a system."

Followed by the "Wow I need to buy the OS for a $100!?"

Then "Let's start with the 'best budget GPU' and 'best budget CPU' that actually fits what I think is my budget."

Realizing my budget is a lot less, I work my way to "I think these new games will run on a cheap ass CPU."

Then end with "The new parts launching next year is probably gonna be better and faster for the same price so I'll just buy next year."

Well, im using a 1080p tv for now, but im in the market to buy a monitor. I was kind of wondering which monitor it would be easier to eliminate screen tearing on.

That video he did was retarded. Asking a random person to notice stuff in a game they don't play on a system they don't use isn't proof. Bought a used 120hz monitor just to see what all the hype was about. Then I bought 2 more as I play via surround quite a bit. I will never go back to 60hz for Aslong as I can help it. Night and day difference, had a few friends upgrade and they feel the same way. We're more serious fps players, so it's quite a big deal for us.
