So I just got a kickass deal on the Asus AC66U and so far its great. I also have a 2TB external harddrive. Asus already includes their AiCloud software for the router but its kinda buggy and im not a huge fan. 

 

Basically, whats the best way to set up my own personal SECURE cloud?

As @Anthony_95, building a server with owncloud would probably be your best option.
