So I was playing skyrim (modded) for about an hour or so last night when all of a sudden i get like 4 , or 5 driver crashes using my twin frozr msi gtx 770 2GB of gddr5 memory for whatever reason i had to close the game and restart my computer. I came back to something

unusual. My gpu usage was spiking when I wasn't doing anything. It also spiked while web browsing which I was sure was not supposed to happen. I then went on to uninstall my hardware driver through windows and reinstall. The problem

almost dissipated. I will include a picture to show you guys. It looked like rather than gpu usage spikes around 50-100% max they stayed below 25% max.

Anyways Do you guys think it was because my core clock was boosted? (150 MHz to be exact) or my memory overclock ( 200 MHz to be exact).

I am running it with an intel i7 4770k both on an Asrock z87 mITX motherboard with 8 GB of ram. If you need anymore information let me know :). Also thanks for all your input in advanced! Don't be afraid to tell me it's defective because I have a warranty thank god.

Let's see.....

1.Latest and greatest drivers installed at the time?  Second, the spike while using your browser could have been because the drivers mistook your browser for a game or some other graphics intense program.....so that's what I got...blame the drivers because most of the time...it is.  Wish I could offer more to you as a solution.

2. Don't believe its your overclock, although after setting one, run a bench-marking software of your choice....like Unigen Valley is pretty good.  If you see artifacts, then back the overclock down a couple of MHz.  Continue with the overclock until no artifacts appear and you should be ok.

3.  If you dare, re-load the current drivers and see if it happens again.....if so, probably gonna be the problem.

Troubleshooting is easy...its when you find the card is wacky that the real headache begins...warranty or not   Hope someone else chimes in to give advice...and good luck.

It could be a number of things, try what the other guy said first.

After that, check your processes running via task manager or whatever. Check for unusual programs.

You could find your computer running a mining program for some other guy

or it could just be some malware or virus messing things up.

You can bark like a dog, but that won't make you a dog.

You can act like someone you're not, but that won't change who you are.

Finished Crysis without a discrete GPU,15 FPS average, and a lot of heart

How I plan my builds -

Spoiler

For me I start with the "There's no way I'm not gonna spend $1,000 on a system."

Followed by the "Wow I need to buy the OS for a $100!?"

Then "Let's start with the 'best budget GPU' and 'best budget CPU' that actually fits what I think is my budget."

Realizing my budget is a lot less, I work my way to "I think these new games will run on a cheap ass CPU."

Then end with "The new parts launching next year is probably gonna be better and faster for the same price so I'll just buy next year."
