I was planning on getting these things for my first computer build. I will be using this computer to render videos and gaming.

Motherboard - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007RIFKUS/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

CPU - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007SZ0E1K/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

I was wondering if these parts are good enough for what I want to do or is there something better than these things but that arent very expensive. Please suggest other parts if you'll like and I'll see other options you guys have. Thanks

Dominator platinums are a bit of a waste of money all they are is looks, get some vengeance ram but the 16gb part is good for light editing.

The motherboard is a good board but i have been told that it gets hot if you dont have adequate cooling.

The cpu is fine.

wheres the rest of the build btw? and whats the budget?

maybe consider AMD if you want to save a bit of money.

16GB of memory is likely excessive for your needs. Try these.

And what are some parts I can spend like more money now and don't have to buy something later or the other way around spend less money now and then get something better later like "future proof"

I know everyone says 16gb is overkill but i will be rendering videos so i need alot of ram so they can render as fast as possible.

I would suggest a better graphics card and no Dominator Platinum.

The mobo is often called "overpriced" but I find it near indestructable [Had my loop leaking a few days without noticing running Prime95 and nothing happened, works flawlessly still]. So I can only recommend that board.

The RAM is absolutely overpriced. And not as awesome. Try Kingston Hyper X Beast if you want awesome memory for a decent price. 8-16gb will do for most people.

The CPU is fine. And I can guarantee you, that CPU and Mobo work very well together.

How long will the videos be, and how often will you be doing this? How much do you value the saved time from better hardware? You're probably better off spending that saved money from the RAM on a better CPU for rendering.

Sabretooth is a waste of money, highly overpriced.

Check out these boards and buy the cheapest out of the three.

MSI - G45

MSI - GD55 (Buy if only a 10-15$ difference between the G45

Asrock Extreme4

These boards will offer the same features give or take for half the price.

Is this one http://www.amazon.com/LGA1155-CrossFireX-Motherboard-Z77-EXTREME4/dp/B007KTY4A6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1369521613&sr=8-1&keywords=ASRock+Z77

better than the sabertooth z77?

And what is the difference between sabertooth z77 vs z79 except the 64 gb ram capacity?

For gaming yes but for rendering you may want 16GB RAM and above, 3770k for extra threads and you will also need a good GPU. You are also overlooking if the that particular RAM is compatible with that motherboard. Make sure it is or you will/may have problems getting the true performance of your setup.

Z77 sabertooth is overpriced. It has a power delivery that's pretty similar to the Asrock extreme6.

I'd recommend the gigabyte Z77 UP4 or UD5H, if you're looking for something high end.

Also, you need a 500 watt PSU to run a GTX 660. buy a 500 watt PSU, and use the money you saved to get at least a 660 ti or a 670.

In addition, I'd recommend a Phantom 630 over the phantom 820. The 820 is way too expensive.

The GD45 and Asrock extreme4 both have horrible MOSFETs. If you're gonna be overclocking heavily, which I hope you would be if you are using an H100, go for at least the GD55 or extreme6.
