hey guys, a few minutes ago, my computer wouldnt POST. in fact, it would either turn on, turn off and turn itself on again and never posts, turns on then off then on then turns off again, or it will just turn on and do nothing.

I got so scared because I didn't have another pc to see which components work and which ones didn't. Then I pulled out both of my RAM sticks (I have 2) and tried one inside. The computer still did one of those 3 things when i hit the power button^. So i tried the other one, same thing happened. Then I tried the first stick of RAM inside again and hooray! It posted and I managed to get into Windows and the BIOS menu. I then turned off the PC and tried both sticks inside the system at the same time, and same thing. I got a post and I got into Windows. I dont know why it didn't post the other time but now it posts this time. And this is not a new rig, I've had my rig for almost a year now. So my RAM has been working fine, and they are in the same slots as they were before when it didn't post. Did u think this was a one off thing and nothing is damaged or do you think something is damaged somehow?

should I try some runs of memtest86?

Thanks.

it is possible that the cmos is corrupt. It happened to me before so what I did is take the battery out of the mobo for a good 5 min and put it back in, which it works again. You could try this if it happens again.

Testing with memtest86 will help identify whether your ram is good or bad so if you want to verify it, then go ahead.
