GPU Fan Problem

Zepso
Go to solution Solved by LotMonkey,

It is just like changing a CPU heat sink, just make sure if you remove it to clean the contact surfaces with a little but of nail polish remover to get rid of the old compound and then you can either use the stuff applied to the new cooler or just put a blob of HS paste on each contact point then just screw it back on!

The Problem is That I have 2 GPU's that run seperate monitors (non-SLI)

GTX 660 Twinfrozr III OC Edition

One of the Fans only Spins out of the 2 but only on ONE GPU the other is fine...

I have tried to use the faulty one on its own also tried it in both PCI Slots

My Specs; (If Needed)

AMD Phenom II x4 965 BE

Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P

16GB Corsair Vengence RAM

x2 GTX 660 Twinfrozr III OC Edition

x2 Samsung SyncMaster 226BW

Maxtor 6V080E0 80GB HDD  (OS DRIVE WIN7)

Westen Digital Blue 1TB (Storage)

Corsair Gaming Series 2013 Edition GS600W

Hi,

I have that card and when you boot up it is meant to spin the fans to 100% in reverse to try and clean the heat sink fins.

Does it do that on boot?

One other thing to check is that the card will have fan headers that the fans plug into just like your mother board so try and see if they are pushed in properly or even unplug them and swap the headers that they are connected to and see if the problem moves, that will prove if it is the card or the fan.

you can buy those fans and replace your self if needs be as it is more likely to be a fan problem or if under warranty even better.

Hope this helps!

yeah they do spin but i don't think to 100% but as soon as the computer boots up that ONE fan stops and the other just keeps going like normal

plus i will have ago at the headers also are the fans easy to take off ?

also thanks zsanfusa might look into that

either send back in with the warranty or replace it with an aftermarket one and theyre kinda easy to get off but you will need to apply thermal compound on it again

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.
