I'm using the following system (relevant specs):

  • Intel Core i5 4670K
  • Gigabyte GA-Z87X-D3H
  • Gigabyte GeForce GTX 770
  • Corsair Vengeance LP CML8GX3M2A1600C9
  • Seasonic G-Serie 650Watt

The system is running flawless, but when I check event viewer I notice that there is the following error:

  • Kernel-Power Event 41 Task (63)

This seems to be happening when the PC is shut down, not every time but about 1 in 5 times.

I have no problems with the system, it's running great and I haven't had a single BSOD/unexpected shut down since I build it. However, the error in the event viewer shouldn't be there, right?

This article from Microsoft explains some of the causes for this error code. Could be just a system crash or power supply or surge. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2028504

Thanks, I've read that article, however I can't find the problem I have in there.

I shut down my PC (properly, via Windows), start it up the next day. 1 in 5 times (or something close to that) it shows the Kernel-Power Event 41 Task (63) error. I don't understand why Windows is generating this error, because it seems the computer shuts down normally.

From my test experience,
(0) Kernel Power event 41 occurs when illegal request to awake/ resume the host was posted to HW under un-sleeping/ standby situation.

It seems this rule is true.

So, I regulate the system to satisfy the next both condition.
(1) Banning the sleeping/ hibernation function in OS.
(2) Disable the Power management function by BIOS.

(1) is OS regulation, (2) is BIOS regulation.
Under (1) and (2) regulation, My PC Kernel Power event 41 has stopped completely.

This solution is simple, but its effect was great.
I named this method as "kp41zero method" or "kp41mask method".

Detail is below.
No kp41 (including kp41zero method)

---------------------------

If you allow the un-using sleeping/ hibernation function, please try kp41zero regulation. It might work well.

(I think basically that kp41 issue is OS-bug.)
