Wait if you can. Upgrade if you need to.

Freesync and gsync are still a bit way off from being completely on the affordable side.

I've got a cheap Acer Tn panel now, its pretty beat up, and them viewing angles are terrible.

Do you have any kind of budget if you were going to buy now?

under 250$

You could pick up some nice 1080p IPS displays at that price, but you should wait for that budget to increase, go for something 1440p or 4K, and NO MORE TN PANELS. NO.

Seems like you learned your lesson, though.

Also your ability to drive good gsync framerates will be entirely dependent on your build and the monitor's resolution. If you plan to get one of those monitors, you'll want a killer rig to take full advantage of it.

Yeah thats why I've been having trouble, because I could either crossfire my r9 280 (or sell it and get something better), or buy a new monitor. If I crossfire, then I could take advantage of 1440p, or 144hz, but then I wont be able to get one of those monitors. I should probably jus wait, right?

With a single r9 280 you should be able to handle some decent framerates and detail settings at 1440p at least.

This is how I thought about it when I went through my last monitor upgrade: You can make a PC that looks absolutely stunning, with the best water cooling and lighting effects money can buy. But what do you still spend 95%+ of your time looking at? Your monitor. If you didn't spend the money to buy a quality monitor that can take advantage of the graphics power you have available while still producing vivid and accurate colors, what was the point of blowing hundreds on a graphics card to start with?
