I currently have an i5-4670k with a stock cooler at 4.3GHz, a reference 660ti with a Corsair H55 cooler, and a non-sli compatible motherboard. If i could get another GPU, would it be worth the upgrade to get a new motherboard for SLI? All other components would be compatible.

Would you need to upgrade the power supply as well? If you don't then it would be worth it but the 800 series are rumored to be very power efficient and then in the long run it would be cheaper to get a single high end card because you wouldn't need to upgrade your power supply/mobo.

Also you have a 4670k at 4.3 in STOCK?

CPU: Intel Core i5 4460 | GPU: XFX r9 280x DD BLACK OC EDITION | RAM: 8gb Kingston HyperX Fury 1600Mhz | Mobo: Gigabyte h97n-WIFI | PSU: EVGA 600B | Case: Cooler Master Elite 120 | Cooler: Stock intel | SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 120gb | Storage: WD 150 gb

Some CPUs can handle it. My Pentium runs at 4.6GHz/1.32V on the stock cooler, for example, though I know it puts out less heat.

I was able to get to 4.1 degrees and keep my temps below 85c with a Zalman CNPS90F which is basically the stock cooler.

No, just with the stock cooler. Temps range in gaming around 55-60C.
