You'll really need an nvidia GPU unless you want to go through a lot of hassle trying to set it up to detect and work with an AMD GPU

many older AMD gpus work OOB as well ;)

Just not many of the newer ones do. Not sure about the 6000 series cards, they're a bit of a blank for what I know

What you need to know?

I guess my first concern is if the Pentium and the i3 will even properly work with OS X.

Then we go from there?

The pentium will most likely not work, haven't seen any builds with one. i3 could work depending on the i3.

  • i3-4360
  • i3-4350
  • i3-4340
  • i3-4330

These are confirmed to work

Edit: Also the most impotent things about hackintosh is the Graphics, Ethernet/Wireless, Audio (Can be bypassed)

iGPU would work. All is supported*

Also you could get off with a cheaper Motherboard.

An i3 will handle multi-monitors without problems. It is not going to play games on high settings but you should be able to play a few games on low settings. What screen res are you planning to use?

What would be a good graphics card around $100 for light gaming like minecraft and maybe try some pc games on OK settings, nothing extreme

Sadly since the 750/750ti is not supported and there are no nvidia GPUs for around $100 that are good. I can suggest the R7 260X if you plan to play on windows but I can't be 100% sure that it will work on OS X. I know you would be able to get it working in OS X but not for gaming since I haven't test my HD7950 in gaming on OS X.

Edit: You could get this: GT 740 but I would suggest you save up for something like a GTX 760.

I'd recommend going with the build Nicholas has originally suggested... I'd also recommend you save your money and then come back when you have like $600 or more...

I would still say that this system will work for what you want and you can add a GPU later.
