If your machine has an OEM copy of Windows installed by the manufacturer it will include a recovery partition, these can be activated in various ways depending on who makes the PC, companies like Toshiba for example allow you to restore to factory defaults and installation by booting the PC up into their recovery tool at the boot select screen. Other brands suggest you make a recovery disk which can be used to activate the partition and restore Windows.

If you restore using recovery disk on an OEM PC = No

If you restore using the factory reset built into Windows 8.x = No

If you do a clean install of Windows = No

If you format your hard drive = Yes
