My best friend wants to build a gaming pc and wants me to pick the parts. This is what I've come up with

Gigabyte H87M-HD3

Intel 4590

Crucial ballistix sport xt 8gb kit 1600mhz

Corsair cx600m

WD blue 1tb

Msi gaming gtx 760 2gb oc

Corsair 230T

Is it good for the price?

I am a member of the PCMasterRace. I am terribly sad to announce that I own a PeasantStation 3 Super Slim. it's in a drawer away from my glorious PC.

Get a i5 4690k

dude he has a H81 board

you need a Z97 board to run the 4690K

where are you buying from?

first off that PSU is overkill for single gpu setups

second the GTX770 is not a great gpu when the 290 is same price and performs much better

you should be able to fit a SSD in there

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

Get a 550W psu, with an i5 4590 for the CPU, and that gtx 760 should be okay, but I'd you can get an EVGA ACX GTX760 then get that instead, as it's better.

this is a bit above the budget but should work good

i don't got the i5-4670k or 90k since that will make you go up for another 50$

if it is possible to add 50$ more then you should consider to take the 4690k

it will be worth more in the future when you want to oc.

If you're willing to spring over on to Amazon they be selling the Asus DirectCUII (Or whatever the friggin jiggiling puffidiy cuffkins it's called) for 369 USD.

If that's not an option that's cool, just thought I'd let ya know.

Do not  as I  do, and  not  as I say. Instead do as you may..

The 280 goes for 243

in comparison against the GTX760

the 280 will be a faster card and your friend will be able to play games at 1080P Ultra

the 280 is basically the HD7950 Boost edition rebrand

Thanks man but it's kinda not the best thing because I'm picking the parts and his dad will get the money from the supposed amount that the government is giving them to upgrade their workstations. Essentially he is acting as though the pc will be used for business purposes.

Hey there Atomicnerd64,

for a gaming PC it's better to use the WD Black drive instead of Blue. It's designed for maximum computer performance and it's perfect for long time gaming. It's capacity varies from 500 GB to 4 TB and has 64 MB cache. If you'd like to see some more details you can visit the WD official web page and check under Internal storage/Desktop. :)

Hope I've helped.

Cheers!

Thanks just changed my 1tb blue to a 500gb black. You might say it is not worth it but my friend doesn't use much space and he can always add another one

Hi there again Atomicnerd64,

I'm happy for your choice. And yes, if your friend needs to, he could always get another drive, or simply get at first a 1 TB drive, it's a free choice. :)

Cheers!
