Hardware device:
have used a few but the best by far is the Elgato game capture HD.

Streaming:
I have also Xsplit(paid) and OBS(free) and they both do a great job. If you are starting out OBS is great.
I just made the move to OBS as my Xsplit premium ran out and I won't be going back. OBS has what I need and want for free.

OBS seems to be lighter on my rig although I don't have proof to back that up over Xsplit. maybe someone else has tested that.

What's your upload speed like?? that's probably the most important thing when streaming.
