GPU only running at 50%

I have a GTX 650 and it only runs on about 50% according to MSI afterburner, and i am stuck with low settings and and only 20-30 fps. My CPU is also just using 50-55% of its capacity. Both the CPU and the GPU is running at 50-60 degrees on load

 

Build: CPU = FX 4100, RAM =16GB 1333 MHz, GPU = GTX 650 2GB, PSU = Corsair CX 500W

 

Any thoughts on way only 50% of the card is used

if its a perfect 50%, id try some other monitor program to see if its not a reading error

Shut down browsers or anything that migh interrupt.

Usually this happens when Flash is opened in a browser which can sometimes decrease GPU core and memory clocks by putting it in 2D mode as far as I understand.

What program / game are you running that is causing your CPU and GPU to be at ~50% usage?

^This is a good idea, try that.

Then: make sure it's not overheating, reinstall the drivers, try older drivers, check that msi afterburner is reading the clock speed the gpu is supposed to be running at (if not set it to what it should be manually and see what happens), try monitoring the gpus behaviour in a benchmark with nothing open but the bench and afterburner and report to us your results.

2. Under Valley Benchmark it uses 99% almost all time

3. i am playing ARMA 3 multiplayer

4. I do not have anything else then Steam, ARMA and MSI afterburner running and the problem still occurs
 

After more testing i found out that the GPU was used 99% on Ultra preset. When I turned the settings down, instead of getting more fps the GPU was only used 50% and i ended up with the same low fps

Yep runs at about 50% for me with a 780ti. Almost as bad as dayz for gpu usage lol

ARMA 3 is very poorly optimized; you will be a more powerful CPU to get any better performance.

When you turn the graphics settings down, the GPU has to work less, hence the GPU usage dropping down to only ~50%.

At that point, the game becomes much more CPU dependent.

 

Essentially, you need to balance graphics settings with CPU and GPU usage.

I'd recommend that you try Medium graphics setting as the starting point, and lower / increase the different individual settings until you get something suitable for you.
