Upgrading Laptop GPU

So i have a M15x P08G with a 5850m which cant even run sim city on the lowest settings. So i was wondering if i could replace the GPU with a better one.

You should be able to upgrade it in theory, as the GPU most likely uses a standard MXM socket, but with what and the availability of different heatsinks to fit the GPU, I don't know.

Yeah you can have fun trying to put the new one back on with mos GPU's on laptops they are on the main board and soldered on with tonnes of solder balls.

On some laptops you really have to disassemble most of it to replace the GPU (risky). Also check that yours isn't soldered on.

If I remember correctly, the M15x used an MXM 3.0 card, so in theory you should be able to upgrade to something even as powerful as the 880M (though there's a good chance that a 880M would be bottlenecked by the CPU).. I believe the best bang-for-buck mobile GPU that I know for a fact works is the 7970M..

Find something with same bus interface and that looks similar in design. Then you should be able to upgrade to it. Use the database above ^
